“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.”
These are the final words of the Great Oz after the curtain is parted to reveal the operator of the machinery of magic. The Encore Foundation was started to open the curtain behind which the men and women work to take the machinery of magic on the road, bringing lifelong memories to all of us who love music and live concerts.
The work of the people behind the scenes is supposed to be “invisible” during the show. Dressed in black, moving silently in the shadows, never distracting the audience from the music and the experience and making the show the best it can be is the pride of these professionals. This is as it should be. When these people are faced with tragedy and crisis, this too remains invisible behind the curtain. This is not as it should be.
Encore Foundation exists to ensure that the accomplishments and the needs of this dedicated community are brought out from behind the curtain and are never invisible again.
We gather the vast financial, creative, and philanthropic resources of the entertainment industry to create a safety net of support and care for the touring community.
It is a rare thing for someone to have not been touched in some way by a live music experience. We wish to preserve the history, the road stories, and the memory of those who have sacrificed so much to bring live music to the world.
Our mission is to ensure that the Road Goes on Forever.
